Follow the Yellow Brick Road

Audiences are set to follow the fabled yellow brick road this summer as Southern Coalition for the ARTS is preparing their production of “The Wizard of Oz.”

The theatre company is set stage performances of the beloved musical at the Coalfield Jamboree in downtown Logan July 29, 30 and 31 and August 4,5,6 and 7.

“This is our first show of the 2016 season, and it’s the first time the ARTS has taken on such a beloved theatre classic. We are excited to invite everyone to come and be swept away to the wonderful and mysterious land of Oz,” noted Leah Clay with the ARTS.

The ARTS’ recent dinner theater production of the murder mystery “The Final Cut” drew a large crowd and rave reviews.

Funds raised by the one-night-only show are being used to cover production costs of “The Wizard of Oz.

The cast of “The Wizard of Oz”  was as follows:

Dorothy was played by Faith Bell. Bob Fields was played the Tin Man. The role of the Cowardly Lion was played by Michael Gore. Adam Terry portrayed the Scarecrow. The Wicked Witch will be played Rachel Noe-Maynard. Kayla Marcum will be Glenda and the Wizard of Oz will be portrayed by Justin McCloud.

This show was used as a tribute to our guiding stars Danny Ray and Jesse Murray and our mentor Liz Spurlock,” added Noe-Maynard.
